You should compile several stacks of documents for your case, each stack arranged by date:

Stack 1 — all the documents you received at closing

Stack 2 — all the notifications and other correspondence you received from your servicer (entity collecting yourmortgage payments) after the closing but prior to any alleged “default”

Stack 3 — all correspondence between you and the servicer related to any alleged default and any attempted modification of the loan

Stack 4 — all correspondence between you and the party claiming to be the (foreclosure) trustee or “substitute trustee” or trustee under your Deed of Trust.

Stack 5 — all documents recorded in the land records with respect to your home since your closing
